If you wonder where I have been, its quite simple. I was off getting married!
Wedding was wonderful, August 15 2010. First I had a bachelorette party to start of the celebration. Saturday we had a dinner for close friends and family and out of towners, and then the big day Sunday, with a brunch Monday. The wedding day was very busy, and I was up early!!! All went well, and my groom was so handsome. Im really excited to get pictures from the photographer.
We were then off to the Mayan Riviera, to Secrets Maroma Beach Riviera Cancun. It was amazing!! I really recommend it.

well its been a while! to recap on whats going on with me..

had my bridal shower in May! was really fun, got some great pictures! Lots of good presents! One of the best parts, my friend Taryn from florida surprised me by showing up!
At the end of May I was a bridesmaid in my friends wedding ! it was really fun to see my first friend getting married. 2 weeks later we were back in Montreal for another wedding!

I turned 25! Jon and I went to grand haven michigan for a little beach getaway, it was very nice, only 3 hours from windsor.

and the biggest news yet, is less than 7 weeks to the wedding!!

yesterday i ventured out all alone to michigan for the day. I had high hopes of coming back with shopping bags. sadly that didnt happen! I started out at 915am, and went to my first location.
I went to so many different cities. Auburn hills, troy, farmington hills, novi, and detroit. I was looking for wedding shoes, found none! Every shoe has a 6 inch heel! are they crazy!
I ended up buying a hair clip to wear to the shower, a bra, and two books. thats all! I didnt even have to hide anything at the border!
I was so tired when I was driving home, I couldnt wait to get there. Well as I turned the corner to get onto the bridge separating windsor and detroit, I was backed up the whole length of the bridge! I had to wait one hour in line for the border, the whole time on the bridge that shakes every time a truck goes by! This is literally two minutes from my apartment, so annoying.
not a fun day!
today I went for lunch with my friend from here, we went to coras, not chez coras, in ontario they call it coras. and shocking, there was a wait! crazy for windsor! there is never a wait or traffic anywhere!
I made jon and I an excellent supper, chilean seabass fish, it was so good! its exepensive, but we dont have it often.
no work tomorrow, yay!

hi all
back in windsor, and before i know it, im back in montreal in 2 weeks! the shower invites are out, and its very soon!! im really excited. i hope that its everything i want it to be. If anyone has any good ideas for anything, let me know!
when I was home last week it was very nice, except for all the passover food that doesnt agree with me.
here is a picture of the shower invitation, its much nicer in person!!oh and i also tried on my wedding dress!!!!! i was so nervous, but i love it! it fits very well, just needs to be shortened, a lot!

today is my fourth day in a row with no work, love it! Im still getting a 5 day work week in as im going to work tomorrow through sunday,. and then monday, im off to montreal for 8 days! yay! unfortunately i have to take the train this time. yuck. and i have to take the long one, which will get me in ontime for passover dinner. Im right now in the middle of making my bridal shower invitations. they are really nice! Im going to probably cut everything, and then assemble them with my mom and sister.
Ive been enjoying my new moon dvd! and im reading the twilight books again, so good!

hi!!
tomorrow my friend taryn from florida is coming! yay! I will pick her up in michigan after work tomorrow. I was home a few weeks ago, it was very nice. I actually had time to relax, and finally clean my room! It was also my dad and grandpas birthdays. My grandfather turned 94, and he was having a very good day.
Somehow I arranged my work schedule, and I will have 9 days off at the end of march and beginning april, so im going home for Passover! very excited, its around the corner.
Tomorrow at work we are going to the casino for an outing, I hope I will be lucky again!

I have been very sick!! for three days, its been awful. I had the stomach flu, today was my third day off work. very unfortunate because I was finally getting more hours because someone is on vacation.
Oh well! I go to work tomorrow, then im going home until Wednesday morning! Jon has taken very good care of me! And today he came home with the Olympic red mittens! we each got a pair.
For valentines day jon got me 2 dozen hot pink roses, they are very nice! and we went out to eat to a fancy restaurant in detroit.

feels like monday, and yesterday felt like sunday. because i worked today. So boring working on sunday because theres only one Life Enrichment worker. I did a lot of talking to myself! Residents were wacky today, there must have been something in the air. Some were thinking their parents were coming to visit (they are in their 90's), and another told me some crazy story about her daughter drugging her and stealing her jewelery. I know its not true, but its amazing how they really think these things have happened.

So life in windsor continues to amaze me. We still have not had snow!!! Well thats a lie, I did have to clean off the car twice this winter, there was 1cm of light snow on it. and thats it!! crazy.
I have still not encountered traffic in a year and a half here. Something that im taking for granted. People I work with think going to the other side of town is a hassle. Im talking about 20 minutes MAX. Do they not know I used to drive 45-60 minutes in bumper to bumper traffic? Or that people in montreal have to schedule their days around traffic time? How many times did I use to tell people to come to dollars for dinner, after 6 to avoid traffic! How many times was I late to Jons or my grandparents because there was traffic at 130pm! The other great thing about windsor is the basic cable. I have two channels that I never had at home. Slice, and Food. These are both channels that ALWAYS have something on. Its amazing. I dont think I could ever be without them now.

Jon and I were in cleveland this past weekend. It was only 2.5 hours from windsor. We did some shopping, went to the cheesecake factory twice, and the rock and roll hall of fame museum. That was the reason for the trip, jon has always wantes to go there. It was really cool. They had a lot of elvis memrobilia, beatles, and so on. What I thought was the coolest, was seeing handwritten lyrics of some famous songs. Its amazing that these old papers still exist. Also they had hotel bills from Elvis. We stayed at the Doubletree hotel, which gives you warm chocolate chip cookies when you check in!

Jon has his week off from school in 2 weeks, so he is going home, Im going 99%, should know tomorrow. I really hope it works out. We never get to be in montreal at the same time! We have a lot to do for the wedding.

So I have been lazy...... Here is what ive been up to in the past month. In point form!
-Well I went to Montreal in the beginning of December, celebrated Chanukah with my family.
-Jon and I went to florida for one week, weather was on the colder side, but I still got a great tan! Yay! And jon and i had fun in the ocean.
-Jon bought me a pretty necklace from Juicy
-My dad got his by a car on our second day there, thank god he is ok, his bike is destroyed.
-back to work, had to take down all the Christmas decorations, what a job
-doing well on my wedding diet!
-Jon is back at school
-Today I made a soup in our slow cooker, it came out very good!
-2 weeks ago Jon came with me to see New Moon again, I loved it, again!
-oh, ive been scrapbooking 100 hours a day! Im making a scrapbook for my sister of all her wedding festivities, starting with the proposal, shower, engagement party, honeymoon, and wedding! While doing it, Ive been watching The Nanny online, I love it!

happy chanukah!
tonight is the first night, not one person wished me a happy chanukah at work, nor did they notice my dreidel earrings! so different then if I was in Montreal.
Yesterday I had such a bad day at work, we were on an outing, and when we came back, I had to unload the bus, and these cold winds started. It was unbearable, the residents were screaming. My left hand actually went numb, I kept feeling to make sure my ring was still there. the only thing keeping me going , is knowing that 2 weeks from today, jon and I will be in florida!

yay!! we are booked to florida! so excited. I always planned on going, but i didnt know what my work schedule would be. Well it worked out better than I expected, Jon and I are going for 8 days!!!!!!! We are flying from Detroit. We leave christmas morning at 630am.

We went out for jons birthday in michigan to a fondue restaurant called the melting pot. It was a lot of fun! we were there more than two hours. A four course meal. Look at the dessert plate they brought us to dip into chocolate! mmmm it included cheesecake and brownies!

Today at work there was a christmas fair, so I had a table selling handmade christmas cards, it wasnt so busy, and I have half left, but I did manage to make 53$

Today is my day!!!! Im going shopping in the states, all by myself. I hope I come back with some good finds.
Grandpa is still in the hospital, he is getting fed up! He wants to go home. I am going home in a few weeks, cant wait to see him!
Yesterday I picked up two things from my registry, a crock pot, and a garment steamer. I am very excited about both of these. Ill let you know how they are!

HI!!
so...grandpa is still in the hospital, but doing much better. Things are well in windsor, except Halloween night I had the stomach flu. So weird, i dont get the stomach flu! ever!
Anyways. I am so excited about New Moon, I dont know what to do with myself. It comes out on Jons birthday, so were not going then. Which is fine, because I dont want to see it when all the teens are there yelling. So im thinking maybe ill go to the late Sunday night show. So I have jons birthday to look forward to, november 20, and the on the 21, there is a bazaar at work, and I am going to have a table selling scrapbook cards. I have so far made about 20-25 christmas cards.

Im sooo tired! I had to drive Jon to the airport this morning at 5 am! Then I went back to sleep for two hours, but I had a nightmare the whole time, and now its time for work.
He has an interview for a summer job in Ottawa. He is then taking the overnight bus back tonight. oh my!

My grandpa went to the hospital yesterday, they are keeping him, his kidneys are failing.
He did come to the party though! I thought he wasnt going to, but he came and he was having a very good day, he was very with it and had a good time!

I did it, I went wedding dress shopping!
Just my mom and I, my sister had to work. I tried on only four dresses, because I am very picky. I know exactly what I dont want. I really like one, that I think might be it. It was very different, which is what I was going for. I am still going to look a few other stores, because I can not be certain that this is the nicest one! Although im sure it is.
Saw my grandparents yesterday, some changes there. My grandpa was in his robe, he is too lazy or weak to get dressed. So he did not come for dinner. Tomorrow I am taking them for lunch, I think the morning is better for him. I am not expecting him to be able to come to the party on Sunday. I think it is just too much for him. Hopefully we will have fun tomorrow!

Flying home tomorrow after work, and ill be there for a week! yay! the engagement party is a week from tomorrow. We have already gotten a lot of gifts from our registry, so exciting!
I have three appointments for wedding dress shopping, so hopefully I will find something. Although I have no idea what im looking for!

Today was a good day. Jon and I spent the whole afternoon together out shopping. We went to buy him an outfit for the party. He looks sooo good! I cant wait to see him in it again. I also found a very tacky gold sparkly hairband that I will wear!
After we went to one of my favorite places.... Costco! We found 2 things there that we registered for, for much cheaper. Unbelievable. The first, was a crock pot slow cooker, it came with an extra tiny one as well, all for 50$. The one we registered for was smaller, and 30$ more. crazy. (We didnt buy it though.) Then we saw an espresso machine also a fancier model for cheaper.
The best thing I saw was a nice fancy Scrabble game, in the deluxe black box, 50$, so if anyone is reading this... we really want it!

I cant believe it is already october, time is flying! Im going home next sunday, for a week. Very excited. Our engagement party is two weeks from sunday! I got my dress,and I have decided to straighten my hair for the occasion. Jon does not like it, but im hoping he will get used to it :)

Still here, still here in Windsor.
Pretty boring weekend, Jon and I celebrated the Jewish new year together.
I am getting excited for our engagement party, 4 weeks from this past sunday!
Today my grandpa went to the hospital for two weeks to give my grandma a respite. We are all against this, we wanted them to get help in the house. It was very sad this morning when he said to me "i dont want to go, I have to go because I have no brains."
I hope these two weeks go by quickly for him. My mom did find a great lady who has been going over for 5 hours during the day, so she will be going to the hospital as well.

The proposal

Everyone told me that if I helped pick my ring that it wouldn’t be a surprise. Well it was, a big one! This is the story of when Jon proposed to me on August 11 2009. We always talked about wanting to get married this coming summer, but I didn’t know if it was actually going to happen. Jon knew he could not propose until after my sister’s wedding, August 9.

So in my head, I thought that he better do it right away if we want to start planning a wedding for the following summer! In May, we were in the mall here in Windsor, and Jon casually said, let’s go look at rings. I thought he was joking! But we did, and then again in Montreal. We picked a design that we both liked, and that was that. He did go back the next day with my mom, to meet with the diamond guy. I never imagined that he was actually planning to buy it! I decided that from that day, I would never mention it again.

I tried not to think about it, but in the back of my mind, I knew that it could be any day after August 9. Samara’s wedding finally came, it was beautiful. We got the regular ‘you’ll be next’ comments, but I never imagined how soon it would be. The next day we were at the brunch, and I saw Jon go over to my dad and whisper in his ear. I thought to myself, oh my god, but I didn’t want any surprise to be ruined, so I looked away, and did not mention it to Jon. Normally, I would have ran up to him and asked what he was talking to my dad about! I am very proud of myself. It turns out that he was indeed asking both my parents for their permission. Jon had told them earlier that he was planning a surprise for me, but he waited in person to tell them what it was. After Jon was being sneaky asking me when I’m going up north, and who would be there. Again I told myself not to ask questions. In my head I was going crazy, I didn’t know if I was imagining things, or if this was actually happening!

I went up north Monday afternoon, and Jon was going to come up on Tuesday. Tuesday afternoon the phone rings, its Jon and he says his car started smoking and he pulled off the highway in Ste Adolphe D’Howard. My initial reaction was annoyance, because I was enjoying myself relaxing in the country! My dad took the phone and got the directions. (he was in on it) We ran out the door, followed by my mom who claimed she wanted to get groceries on the way back. As we drove there, all I kept saying was that it’s not fair, why did this have to happen to Jon. We arrived at a gas station and we didn’t see his car. I got so mad, and started yelling at my dad that he didn’t get good directions, and that we didn’t even know which car Jon was driving! (at this point, I really had absolutely no idea!!) My dad went in to ask about another gas station, but he was really making sure he knew where the special location was.

We then pulled into a driveway, and once again start yelling that this isn’t a gas station. My dad says it’s an information center, and get out of the car. I looked ahead, and saw a lake, and a gazebo. That’s when my heart dropped. I thought to myself this could be it. My dad was walking back to the car trying to hide a smile, he had just given Jon the signal that we had arrived. My dad awkwardly walked around the car, he was trying to figure out how to get me out. Finally he just opened my door and said come walk. At this point, I thought 99% it was it, but I didn’t want to say anything in case it wasn’t! It turned out that it was a boat marina.

I looked up and saw Jon standing in the distance, he was in a brand new outfit, (a pink polo shirt and white capris, I always wanted Jon to get a pink polo shirt, and I had just bought him a pair of capris and loved him in them). That is when the saxophone player that Jon hired started playing our song, Maybe I’m Amazed. As I walked to him, my parents went back to the car. That’s when I started crying hysterically, what a sight. I walked to Jon and we started dancing, there were a lot of ‘oh my gods and I can’t believe its.’ I then noticed that he had a party boat all decorated with streamers, and our video camera set up. Jon tried to give the musician a signal to stop playing, but he was so involved in his music that he didn’t see it. Finally he stopped and Jon got down on one knee. I must have been shaking like an idiot! He gave me the most beautiful ring, and then he said, which is your left hand!

We walked onto the boat and I noticed that he had roses, champagne, party sandwiches, raspberries and other snacks. (People always laugh when I mention the party sandwiches.) My parents came down, and then there was a lot of screaming and hugging and making phone calls. Samara had left on her honeymoon that morning, but Jon called her the night before to tell her. When he called, she yelled I knew it! She had also seen Jon talking to my dad at the brunch. Michael had been in on it the longest. Jon and I went out alone on the boat, and I had so many questions about how, and when. I still don’t understand how he organized this all from Windsor. Where did he find the place and a musician? We went back to the dock and then my parents came on the boat for a little bit. When we got back to the house, all my cousins were there so it was very exciting. The whole thing was perfect!

I know Jon would be upset if I did not mention one other part. He was trying to figure out a way to get me to the marina. He decided to make up a fake Lululemon sale in the Laurentians. He even had one of his friends call and leave a message in French on our answering machine. Not to mention, he made Michael get him the number of a calling card so I wouldn’t be able to trace the call. Unfortunately, I listened to the message once, could not understand how Lululemon got my number in Windsor, and forgot all about it. At that point, Jon created a fake letter with the Lululemon logo, header and footer. Sometime around then, he decided this was all crazy, and decided to go with the broken car. Ironically, his car battery did die the next day.

August has been busy!!!!
So my sister got married, and then I never had time to write about it or show pictures, because I got engaged 2 days later! (that story will come shortly).
her wedding was beautiful, she was soooo happy. It was a very long day starting with hair and makeup, and then pictures.
After, jon and I got to spend the whole week up north, it was really fun, and so nice to be in the country. I got to swim in the lake, and just sit on the beach, and then stare at my ring.
Since then Im back at work, and starting today, im working part time only. This has already come in handy because I have 6 days off and Im heading home on Thursday. I will meet with photographers and finalize on our venue. We have set the date though! August 15 2010!

I am going home tomorrow night, going to be a long day. I have to carry my dress through the airport, on a 2 hour stop in Toronto. i will only get to montreal at 1145pm.
Other then that I am in the middle of a cold, why now? I hope it is gone tomorrow.
The other news is that jons mom has been in the hospital the whole week, we are hoping she is on the way to recovery.
And more bad news... the girl I was replacing on maternity leave is coming back early! I was hired to replace her in a full time position for approximately one year, well she has decided to come back september 1, instead of october 20. So I will be going down to part time now. And I will not be with my same residents, I will still get to see them at big activities, but I will have to focus on another unit. I am not happy about that. oh well.
In good news, my sister is getting married on Sunday!!

The other day at work, it was my evening program, and we were watching the Golden Girls. I saw that one of the residents who does not talk, had dropped her teeth. So of course I had to pick them up, so I did so with a paper towel, and put them back on her tray table on the wheelchair. Well a few minutes later, I notice that she has placed them on the tray table of the person sitting next to her, also someone who doesnt talk! So now Im wondering , whos teeth are they!!! So I had to inspect everyone around them, to see who was not wearing top dentures!
On a more pleasant note, My friend/cousin Erin was here this past weekend, we had a great time! Went to the states shopping, and she found a dress for my sisters wedding.
I also went shopping to RW, one of my favorite stores, and they were having a huge sale. They had mens capris on sale, and I asked myself, is Jon a man who can wear capris? I did not know. Well I bought them, and it turns out, he is a man who can wear capris, and they look soooo good on him!!!

Erin IS coming after all! After much stress and planning, and panicking, she is able to come! She is getting a lift today to toronto, from there taking the bus to windsor. And then on Monday she is going to take the RobertQ airbus (airport shuttle) from here to toronto airport, and then fly home to montreal! so 4 ways of transportation! all because of the via rail strike. I am very happy though!

AHHHh I hate when these things happen. My friend Erin was supposed to come visit this weekend. She was going to take the train from Montreal to Windsor, well all of a sudden Via Rail is going on strike! I cant believe it! And all trains are canceled. I hate when I get so excited, and then things dont work out. Not fair! And, the city of Windsor is still on strike, almost 4 months!

Thanks for the comments about the printer ink, after reading others also, I decided not to do it! People say they can leak and ruin the printer. So I guess I wont take the chance, even though it is sooo cheap!

Well it has been awhile. Ive been quite busy, watching tv and all. I started watching my Friends dvds again, love them!
I am going to post pictures of my visit with the family soon.
I cant believe that i will be going home in 3 weeks from tonight, and sams wedding is 3 weeks from sunday! where did the time go? Ive been going to the dressmaker here, and my dress will be all fixed for tomorrow. The dressmaker is 78, and she lives alone. she is very lonely. One of her cats died this week, she is devistated, and thinks the super killed him, something like that! oy. poor lady.

here is my masterpiece, the birthday cake I made for me, featuring Mimi Price Hutkins.
Her middle name is price for 2 reasons. Many years ago our neighbors in the country had a dog named Mimi, and their last name was Price. (by the way, that was the only dog I ever liked.) the second reason is because she is a Fisher Price doll! I only added the price on recently.

So my bithday has come and gone, every year I get say thats its over and have to wait so long again, but this time I have something to look forward to, my parents and my sister are coming to windsor on thursday! Im so excited, I saved my birthday cake to have when they are here.

Here are some many pictures of the last week. Wednesday night, there were fireworks on the detroit river, they were said to be the biggest in North America, I found that hard to believe. After seeing them, I decided they were the longest, but not the best in quality. The fireworks at Epcot in Disney are much better! I was shocked to see so many people there, who knew there were that many people in Windsor! Here is a picture of the ambassador bridge with boats in the water.This is a shot of the GM building, there is also a tunnel you can take to get to detroit instead of the bridge, when you come out to the border, the building is right there.

For my birthday one of my gifts from Jon was a dinner and dancing and fireworks cruise on the detroit river, called the detroit princess. We did this Friday night.
It was very nice, but really long, it went until 1am, because it had to travel to Wyandotte michigan for the fireworks. The fireworks were great though, much better than wednesday nights! Hee is a view of Windsor from across the river.
The boat had 4 decks, each with a dining room and band/DJ. Even a DJ outside.
The food was very good too, I had low expectations because it was a buffet, but it turned out quite nice. Since Im in Windsor, I have been to a few work events/conferences, where there is no food for a vegetarian. I am not one, but I do not eat pork and ham, which seems to be quite popular here. Im sure it is quite popular in montreal too, but living in the jewish community I did not see it like I so here, which is EVERYWHERE! So anyways, I was happy to see lots of food that I ate, then again, it was detroit, not windsor. people at my work really like ham! To me, party sandwhiches mean tuna and egg, to them it is ham. (they also think my dads name is pronounced 'Berry', but it is Barry. And they think I wear 'ponts', instead of pants.

Jon had the waitress put a candle in my cake!
Jon got me this great birthday balloon, love it. and wrapped my presents in very nice wrapping!
My sister got this really cool thing at her shower, and I had showed it to Jon, Its called chop to pot, its a cutting board that you then squeeze the handle and the sides come up, making it easy to dump the stuff into a pot, without spilling. Anyways, jon got it for me!

On Saturday, my birthday, we went to a place called metro beach metropark in michigan. There was a beach, and a pool. Jon was in charge of packing a picnic. He did all the work! got all my favorites, uncluding a salami sandwhich on an onion roll.
for dessert, a cheesecake with candle, and raspberries and whip cream!
And of course, it was also mimis birthday, here she is flying with mr frog on the balloon!

Another strike and a Surprise

So today we found out that the LCBO (like SAQ) is going on strike. Add this to the 10 week strike that the whole city is on, crazy. I wanted to get some champagne for my birthday, so we went to pick up a few things. The place was packed! Everyone was there loading up carts, and the shelves were half empty!

Yesterday I made an appointment for a pedicure, I knew my mom was maybe going to get me a gift certificate for the spa here, and give it to me only when she comes next week. But I wanted my toes done for the dinner cruise Friday, and my birthday Saturday. So I went anyways, and when I got there, they said it was paid for, and a note saying happy birthday from mom and dad! What a nice surprise! Jon had let my mom know that I was going.
They had these very cool chairs, with the bubble bath attached. I never had one like that before.

Lots of pictures today! The first batch are from last week, when we walked along the detroit river, and the rest from today, at Point Pelee.
Along the river, it is called the Odette Sculpture park, it is normally quite nice, although the grass hasnt been cut in over 2 months because the city of windsor is on strike!
Me, with Detroit int he background, it really is so close.

Point Pelee, the most southern part of Canada, its a national park. we drove 1 hour to get there, and we rented a canoe, and brought lunch in our cooler. I feel like I have this picture of Jon a 100 times! Up north at the country house, and canoeing at lake louise, so this adds to the collection.
It wasnt sunny while we were canoeing, but not as dark as the picture! There were lots of lilly pads around the edges, and then the water opened up.

This was the beach, we have been looking everywhere for good beach chairs, but no luck, so we had our towels. It was sooo hot! I am quite red now.
Where did Jon get those muscles?

They are calling for severe thunder storms tonight. We were supposed to go to Point Pelee tomorrow, but we will go Sunday. Its the southern most part of Canada, and there is a place where you can rent canoes.
A few weeks ago at Costco I bought season one of One Tree Hill on DVD. I always told Jon how good it was, but he never watched, well now he loves it! We finished it quickly, and then watched the second season online. And then just a few days ago, jon gave me an early birthday present, season 3! So thats what we have been busy doing. :)

NO, not my residents, this time its my grandparents. They decided to walk to the mall today from their apartment! grandma is almost 90, and grandpa is 93. He has a walker, and I dont even like when he walks from the kitchen to his bedroom! But all of a sudden, they decided to go to the mall. For me it would be about a 7 minute walk, so thats a pretty long distance! They bought a 12 inch subway, and each had a 1/4 for lunch, and then dinner. I guess I should be happy that if he can do this, then I can stop worrying he wont make it to my sisters wedding in August!

Sunday Jon and I walked to the detroit river, theres a really long walking path, and many park benches. We are looking for lawn chairs so we can take the sun there.

Im starting to get excited for my birthday, on the 27, we are going on a dinner and dancing cruise on the river, the boat is called the detroit princess. And also my parents and sister are coming 2 weeks from Thursday, Although my mom wont come if I dont clean my oven. Oh well!

How wonderful to wake up today and not have to go to work! On the other hand, Jon did. But that is a good thing, he has been looking for a job since he finished school. He got a job as a camp counselor at a day camp here in Windsor, and they pay pretty well. He also has two law related volunteer jobs. So today he had to go for CPR training. Its kind of funny that he will be working at camp again, and another camp from the one where we met, and I went for 15 years. But a job is a job. And Jon is the best staff they will ever have.

The other night we went out for sushi, to a small restaurant downtown. (downtown is one street sort of. I always find it funny when people here refer to the area as downtown, because im comparing it to Montreal). Anyways, we arrive, and sitting there is my friend Eva and her boyfriend . She is my trainer at the gym, and my Michigan shopping partner. We ate outside together, it was so hot and sunny. In this picture, it looks like we can be sitting at the corner of Guy and Ste. Catherine, with high rise buildings and bumper to bumper traffic. In reality, you can walk across the street no problem, and count the people at the bar accross the street. Another busy night in downtown Windsor! Anyways, the sushi here is phenomenol, they have a roll called the dragon, and it actually looks like one, they make horns with red peppers, and the tail is a shrimp tempura hanging out. Picture doesnt do it justice.

Thursday night we had our first dinner guest, Jons friend David from school. We prepared very nicely, but I did not use my napkin rings. I also came to the conclusion that I need to have a bridal shower, because I had no nice serving pieces. I must first get engaged. :)

p.s. I am so very excited for the New Moon movie to come out. (Twilight sequel) More on that another day. Only problem is that is comes out on Jons birthday, and he has already told me numerous times that he has no interest! oh oh

Hi All
Its been a few weeks since ive written. Since then, I have gone home to Montreal. I had a great time. First I had Jon's graduation from his McGill Masters. He looked soo handsome! Then we went out to dinner, his family and mine. The next day I went out to dinner with my sister and brother, we hadnt done that in a while. Sunday morning was my sisters bridal shower, it was really nice! We had about 40 people come, it was in our house. My sister was very happy, and she got the most amazing gifts. Bowls were very popular!

NO matter what , I dont think I will ever get over the Windsor airport. There is only one plane, so one flight at a time, the plane seats about 40 passengers, and yet there are 6 employees working the security, crazy.
Work is going well, Im still liking it a lot. These past few weeks since jon is done school is wonderful, what a change! I dont even remember what it was like. He is looking for a summer job now. He is doing 2 law related volunteer jobs also. Im very proud of him.

Just checked in with air canada, go figure I have the same seat as always on the plane from windsor to toronto. Windsor only has one plane! I arrive at midnight.
I have a big day at work tomorrow, we are taking the residents to Colasantis, sort of like a botanical gardens.
Friday I have jons graduation from his masters from mcgill, and then we are going out to dinner his family and mine. And then sunday is loveys bridal shower. She will be sleeping over the whole weekend since marvin leaves to vegas tomorrow for his bachelor party.

SO nice to wake up and not have to go to work, and not have to go tomorrow! What a pleasure.
I just worked 6 days in a row so I can have my 4 days off next week. I go home thursday night. really looking forward to it, even though my mom reminds me there is a lot of work to be done for the shower on sunday. If anyone has some game ideas, please let me know.
Things have been quite different here with jon being finished school. H makes the bed everyday, and yesterday he even vacuumed the couch! We did have an incident with him watering a plant, but thats been taken care of. Today my house husband has just gone out to walmart and loblaws. He will call me to let me know the price of chickens. I am happy to stay home.

We are back from Ohio, it was great! about a 4 hour drive, the concert was really good, and the hotel was nice. The next day we went to a big shopping area, it was all outside, very nice with fountains. We had lunch at the cheesecake factory, so good!
When we arrived home, we saw that our freezer door was left open!! and everything defrosted! A bag of chicken had fallen off the shelf and knocked the door open, so it was hanging out, with chicken juice all over the floor. not fun.

Jon came to work with me the other night, he helped out at my evening program, all the residents loved him!

I went home for 3 days and now im back in windsor. I was flying alone, and I was looking for new headphones, and I found the exact kind I wanted for 5.99 in the toronto airport. when I got home on tuesday night I went with my whole family to Scarolies for dinner, it was really good! I still have not found a good italian restaurant here.
Wednesday morning I went with my mom and sister to look for a dress to wear to my sisters wedding, and I found one, and I liked it better than the one I saw here. And then finally I got to go to the scrapbook store! that was fun! i picked out stuff for bridal shower invitations.
Wednesday night we had the seder at my aunts house, and thursday at my house. We had 25 people come, 30 minutes before they arrived, we realized we need to change the table configuration because the chairs didnt all fit! It was nice to see all my cousins. Lots of babies now! I am no longer the youngest!
Wednesday night on the way to my aunts for passover seder, I stopped at my grandparent just to run in. I had to call for them to buzz me up, and then I got out of the elevator, turned right, and at the end of the hallway, there was my grandpa (93) standing in his bathrobe waving, I almost died, I love him so much. Thursday at my house, they were both in fine form! I even saw my grandpa singing along. Friday I went over to take them shopping, but grandpa was not able to even get out of bed! The night before was really too much for him. But I lay next to him in the bed, and he promised me that he would still be there when I come back in 6 weeks at the end of May!
At work today, we went to the casino! 2 residents won, the rest of us lost!

So working in a nursing home, you would not believe some of the things I see or stories I here. of course I am not at liberty to share them all. I will give you one though.
The other day I was doing a bowling program, and I look over to see that my 90 year old 80 pound resident has her diaper around her ankles. Oh lovely. it has fallen down because she is so skinny. I quickly rushed her back to the nurses station before she had an accident in my program.
Today while I was helping to feed in the dining room, my resident kept sneezing, and everytime I flinched thinking she was going to throw up on me! While feeding them, it kind of reminds me of lunch time at camp. Its the same thing, trying to get the little campers to eat, and the seniors. Another one told me today that she was going to tell her parents on me if I kept feeding her. (they have been dead for over 30 years im sure, its hard to respond to that) Other get up in the middle of lunch and claim that they are going home, sadly I must remind them that this is their home. I had a resident who used to pack up her room everyday and try to leave, she is now in the dimentia unit.

Heres a crazy story, sunday while jon was at the library, his wallet was stolen!!! ( 2 people lost laptops, and another their wallet also) luckily we were able to cancel the credit cards ontime, and then he found his ID cards in the toilet. can you imagine! some people........

Currently, there is a car parked in our spot belinging to another tenant. as you know, this is not the first time! I cant believe it. Months ago the landlord put up signs showing that each spot is designated to an apartment, and will be towed! and yet they still park there. We have told them so many times, and put up signs! I will talk to the landlord tomorrow, and have him talk to the others again. The next time it happens, i will call the tow truck! I have put up a note earlier, and it is now gone, but the car remains. crazy!!!!!

Just got home from work tonight, it was very busy, we had pubnite, and only 2 of us working, and no volunteers. We had to run around the whole building inviting everyone, and pushing wheelchairs. Then we had to serve drinks, and I had to remember: who had alcohol, whos not allowed, whos on thickened fluid, who had a snack, whos on a pureed diet and cant have a snack.....
We were supposed to have entertainment, and they didnt show, so people were mad. Anyways....

I went to get a haircut today, I decided to get it straightened, havnt done that in a year or so. I didnt think the residents would recognize me!
When I went home in February, we went up north, here is my sledding in the backyard.

Very busy weekend, got a lot done, but no time to do just nothing.
Yesterday I went on an 11 hour adventure by myself to Michigan. i went to 2 huge malls, and enjoyed myself. I bought really nice Juicy shoes! But I did not find a dress for my sisters wedding, which was the plan. oh well. Also, for the first time, I had to pay duty at the border! 46$!

This morning I went to HMV to pick up my pre order of the special edition 3 disc TWILIGHT! I couldnt believe it, only HMV in Canada has this. Its the first time that Canada has something like this and the states dont. My friend taryn in florida is quite upset. This did not stop us from talking about it though! So I spent many hours watching all the special features, and then Jon came home from the library, we ate dinner, did laundry, and now its 10 already!

I am very proud of myself, because today I did 45 minutes of cardio at the gym. I get bored easily so I did 15 on the eliptical, 15 on the bike, and 15 on the treadmill.
On my way home I stopped at Price Chopper to get lettuce, and I saw that strawberries were on sale for 1.59 a box. That made me happy.

Im upset because I dont scrapbook anymore, i dont know why, I never feel like it. So today I plan on sitting down and doing it!

work is very busy , I have 3 new residents, so theres a lot to do.
jons parents just came back from a cruise, so now im wanting to go on one again! or any vacation for that matter.
I am praying that I dont get sick this week, except that I always get sick at the time change. But my fingers are crossed. I think that since I was so sick before, that theres no way I can get sick now.

Weekend in Montreal was great! Hugging my grandparents was the best part, and worth every penny of the trip! I hugged my grandpa so hard I thought I would snap him. (he appeared to have lost about 20 pounds since I saw him last).
I went up north, and it was my dads 60th, lots of fun. We went snowshoeing and sledding. pictures to come. I also got to see my friend taryn from florida who also happened to be up north that weekend. Sunday was grandpas 93rd birthday, we had dinner at home, and grandpa had no interest in his cake because he was preoccupied with my cousin marias very adorable kids!
I was very sad to have to leave. Of course my plane was late and almost missed my connecting flight, but I made it home ok. (almost broke my back carrying my suitcase up the stairs)

So back in windsor, the outbreak seems to be under control, we are down to less than 5 people with it. thank god.

Tuesday I went to see Shopaholic by myself, it was lovely. I liked the movie, but they changed it so much from the book, im not sure why.
I saw the strangest thing at the mall, people are so weird. In the middle of the mall, there is a tiny kiosk that waxes peoples eyebrows!???? In total public! who would want to do that?

Im such an idiot, today I went after work to costco, I get to the parking lot, get the best spot ever, and realize my costco card is in my other purse. ooops. thank god I didnt find that out at the check out with a full cart.

I also went today to a dress store. I walk in, and the owner is the only person there. I go right to her and say: I need a long black formal dress because im the maid of honor in my sisters wedding. Her reply: the long dresses are to your left. Is it me, or should she have gotten off her ass and helped me!!! Youd think as the owner of a small boutique, she would want to try to make a sale. Well I lost out in the end, because I didnt see anything I liked. Nothing special.

Jon comes back tomorrow! I pick him up at the train at 415.

Work is still in major outbreak mode. I was not happy to be there, but I did not have to spend a lot of time with the residents. I washed my hands about 50 times today!

Right now we are just doing our final packing, and we are off to the airport!
I cant wait to get home, and tomorrow morning I get to go to the scrapbook store!

Oh boy!
So Valentines started off very nice. When I woke up, Jon gave me a dozen beautiful red roses, they came in a very nice white box with a red bow. We went for dinner in Detroit, and then to the Detroit Symphony orchestra to see a Beatles show. towards the end of the show, I started getting stomach pains. I had been getting them on and off throughout the week. When we got home, I started getting sick, I wont go into details. Jon took me to the emergency room at 3am. We had to look up the directions! They took me rather quickly, and I had my own space with a curtain around me, they brought jon a chair. They put me on morphine and something to relax me because I was quite nervous. They thought it might be my gall bladder. I had a ultra sound Sunday morning, and then no one would tell us the results, we had to wait so long. Finally they said it was Gastro Intestinal Infections, and they said I can go home. Part of me wanted it to be something more, because Ive been having stomach aches for years.
Anyways, Im not perfect, but feeling a lot better. I called in sick to work today, and they told me theres an outbreak there! well that explains in. In my area that I look after, 15 people have it!!! I feel so bad for them. They told me I have to stay home tomorrow also. The good news is, Thursday night I go home to Montreal!

I was happy to catch Elizabeths daughters emptying her room, because I wanted to tell them how much I liked her, they gave me a hug and thanked me for my kindness. Im really happy I have 2 pictures with her, one is of me, her and santa clause!
On valentines day Jon and I are going to the detroit symphony orchestra, they are having a beatles show.

We are having another visitor! My brother is coming to visit, on friday! Cant wait! Just finished doing the laundry from my sisters visit.
Today at work we had a funeral for a man who had no family, and then a 90th birthday party for one of the residents, with lots of family. kind of a contrast.

Yesterday i had the day off, I had my trainer in the morning, and then I went for a massage. Of course I ended up at costco. i did something new at the gym, lunges and squats, and boy did I feel it when I woke up this morning. owwww

Ill start with the good.
My sister came to visit this past weekend, we had a fab time! She was supposed to come in friday night at midnight, and we were both so looking forward to it. She was flying MOntreal-toronto-windsor. Her plane left montreal late and she ended up missing the connection to windsor. I thought I was going to kill someone! We were both so mad, at least they put her up in a hotel, and she got in the next morning at 10. I took her to see my work, she was very impressed, and I showed her around windsor, she also came to the gym with me. We also went to michigan for the day shopping, and had dinner at PF Changs. I was sad to see her go, but ill be home 3 weeks from tomorrow. She also officially asked me to be her maid of honor, she made me a beautiful collage frame, ill post the pic later.

As for the bad news, the one and only scrapbook store here has closed! I cant beleive it! Now I have nothing. I really hope when I come home that some new products will be there, the last 2 times were all chirstmas stuff.

And as for me, still going to my trainer. I dont see any differences though!

So not only did I join the gym, but I splurged, and I mean splurged, on a personal trainer. I signed up for 3 sessions a week for 4 months. Yesterday was my first time, the trainer is so nice, I really liked it, even though she almost killed me. I had 2 expressions: I cant do anymore! and Its hurts so much! Now I am in excruciating pain from my shoulders to my fingers, but I look forward to going back tomorrow.
Today i went on an outing at work, to tim hortons, one of the residents fell ill, it was kind of scary, and we called an ambulance. Not to mention that I had to stand out in the cold loading and unloading the bus. Lucky for me, my friend called the bingo in the afternoon so I got a little break.
As jon would say: so you went to tim hortons, and then played bingo, when did you go to work?

today at work we had an outing to walmart. so I was in charge of my favorite resident, and we walked around the store leisurely. (all she wanted was a blue pen). It was funny, because I thats exactly what I did with my grandparents, take them to Walmart shopping. SO I cant believe I get paid for this. Then we had a nice long lunch and the mcdonalds there. All of a sudden a stranger comes up to me and says: you are such a nice person, you are in the right profession. I was so taken aback, I guess she heard me talking with my resident and being nice. so that made me feel good!

today I joined the gym! yes its true, its called good life fitness, its right near my apartment, this location is just women, and they have a lot of classes, and its really cheap! (not to mention, for an extra dollar a week, there is unlimited tanning, but I know its sooo bad for you. but also so tempting!)

at walmart, they had the 3 and 4 twilight books 30%, so I bought them and cancelled my amazon order that had not shipped yet! cant wait to start tonight! I hope I dont read all through the night and have to miss work.

Flight from hell

so heres a good story. I had a wonderful time in florida, which was then ruined by my flight home. I was supposed to leave fort lauderdale at 825, and get to detroit at 1125. The plane was delayed until 845, no big deal, so we get on, and I have an isle seat in the back, It tunrs out we are waiting for some people from another plane. Well a man with a family comes on screaming that he will never fly spirit again, and yelling that they told him there is no room. Of course his seat was behind me in the back, and the rest of his family a few infront. He is now shouting and violently opening every over head bin and telling the whole plane that there is room. Hes putting his carry on away, and making a big scene.
The flight attendants asked him to calm down, but he wouldnt. so they made the decision to call the security. Now the security comes on board, and they get to his wife and kids first, and ask them to get off the plane. so the man gets up from the back to see whats happening. He says they are not leaving! the security says: this can be the easy way or the hard way. walk off like a man. the man says, im not leaving! and turns around to walk back, this is when the security grabs him and now they are fighting in the isle! Also backup was called, so they are all fighting, he is still resisting and yelling, falling into the rows, I inched closer to the middle seat. Now the wife is yelling they are not leaving! and passengers are getting involved, children are screaming, I couldnt believe my eyes. Finally they were able to drag him off. The whole thing seemed to be handled unprofessionaly, and then the security told us he will be going to jail.
Now we have to wait for them to get off all the overhead luggage that he scattered everywhere, and his luggage under the plane. Then another couple wouldnt stay quiet and they were asked to leave. One man then kept yelling, and the security told him infront od the whole plane, shut the fuck up, or youll be next. After all this, they realized that the man had gone to the bathroom, and that was a security threat, so they had to have someone come check it out. We sat on the plane for 2.5 hours!!!!! During this time, I was making a hundred calls to my friend in windsor who was going to pick me up, I told her to forget it, its too late. Then I was begging the shuttle that goes over the boarder to windsor, to wait for me. they said they would wait until 2am, and not a minute more, supposed to leave at 145.

The only good thing was that I was reading a great book! the sequel to twilight! i only got off the plane at 2. before we took off, I stood up and said: excuse me, is anyone going to windsor? no one was. But one very nice lady offered me to stay at her house in Detroit! So the airport started to empty out, and |I got nervous, didnt know where to go, and finally found a taxi, we made a flat rate of 68 US, and I arrived home at 3am. The worst part was, I packed my bag so heavy, thinking my strong friend was going to carry it up, so now I had to carry it stair by stair, I thought I was going to die! She did go into work for me the next day though!! I got into bed, wide awake, and read my book until 410!

Here i am
busy week here in windsor. jon has finishes his exams! yay! his last one was on wednesday. he left to montreal yesterday by train.
I forgot to mention that jon and i exchanged our chanukah gifts, I got him this chair massager, but I dont think we like it, so Ill return it. He got me tickets to see the circus here at the casino in january, im so excited! he put the tickets in a old box to trick me!

We went out to celebrate thursday night. We went to Red Lobster, neither of us had been there, well maybe i was there in florida once, but many ages ago! it was very nice, perhaps our new favorite restaurant. the caesar salad was very good! I will post the pictures after. Then we had a coupon for a movie, so we went to see Four Christmases, we went in with low expectations, but it turned out to be great, we laughed a lot!

Friday I had the day off, and there was a mini storm here, well they call it a storm, really it was just a regular snow fall in montreal terms. So we needed to buy a shovel, we went to canadian tire, and got the last one!

We always like to monitor the beer store on sunday mornings, when it opend at noon. there are always tons of cars there! weird.

I am working monday, tuesday, and half day wednesday, and then taking a shuttle to detroit airport, and landing at 955pm, my mom and dad will be waiting!

Hello there
this is a page I made today, about my beloved Clarabelle, who is no longer with me.
Last night while Jon was studying, I went to a movie by myself, I have never done that before. But I enjoyed it. I went to see Role Models, a stupid funny comedy, well it turns out, it was hilarious! I loved it, kept laughing out loud. Yesterday I cleaned chickens, and today I did 3 loads of laundry. I am turning into quite the housewife. Jon has only 2 more exams, and hes done on Wednesday. Here is a cookie card I had made for him at mrs. fields. (does anyone know why I chose pink and green?)

I just made an excellent supper, and we even ate at the kitchen table! We had a very good salad, one of my favorites. (couldnt have it up to this point because I never remembered to buy sesame oil), then we had chicken with italian dressing and corn flake crumbs, and then green beans almondine. Friday night I went to my staff christmas party, it was at a restaurant/hall. I suppose there are no vegetarians in Windsor, because it was buffet and everything had meat or meat sauce. Quite interesting. Tomorrow at work is my residents christmas party, santa will be visiting. I have now helped out at 4 other exact same parties, so hopefully I can pull it off. Florida in ten days!

ventured out on my own today across the border.
I have been having scrapbook withdrawal, and found out yesterday that in Michigan there is an Archivers store, which is a chain of scrapbooking stores. I believe its the only one of its kind, its not like michaels, its just scrapbooking. So I checked it out today, and it was beautiful. They had many of the new products, although I have most of it from when I went home in October. but I will look forward to going back after the new products are released.
So then i went to the mall to go to Macys, bought nothing. Then to TJ Maxx, Michaels, and marshalls, nothing! i guess thats ok since the exchange is so bad now. And let me say, thank god for my GPS, the thing is amazing! I would still be in Detroit without it, they are doing so much construction around the border area, its impossible to navigate.
Good news is, I did not have to pay duty. In fact, not once at this border have we had to.
Back to work tomorrow.

Im off to florida in 3 weeks, cant wait! That also means 3 weeks until Christmas, that came pretty fast, it was just halloween!
Yesterday at work, I was in charge of a card night, and I had to break up a fight between 4 residents! They were yelling at each other that one was too slow, one lost the count, one didn't know who the dealer was.... oh my. I told them it to calm down, its just a game!

P.S. Oh wow! My blog buddy Ash just mentioned me on this blog recognition think going around. How cool! I shall mention that I enjoy reading hers too because she takes very nice photos! A new blog that I now check EVERY day, is cake wrecks.

My very own Chanukah Tree! I love it! I was so excited to find it on sale at Zellers, and find blue and silver decorations. If you look closely you will see some chanukah garland on it. The one ornament on it is a cruise ship, that we bought last year on our cruise. Normally it is on display with our other cruise ship.
These are all our Chanukah presents that my mom sent me! Before I knew I would actually see her in Florida on Chanukah.
Here is our new friend, that I won in a gift exchange last week at my work Christmas party. As you can see, he already made friends with Mimi and Frog. We named him Rollo. When you touch his hand he sings and dances, very cute.
And finally, this is my Christmas tree at work, I decorated it all by myself. Its in my area, so it was my job. Its not as nice as the others, because I used whatever I could find that was left over.
Yesterday Jon came to see my work because we were having a bazaar.

So the great news is that yesterday I got my work schedule for the holidays, and after arranging a few shifts I was able to get 5 days off! So im off to Florida on Christmas eve. cant wait. i dont know what I would have done if I had to stay alone in Windsor for the holidays. Jon will be going home.

Last thursday was jons birthday, I made him sushi, it was my first time, but came out quite good.Here it is all cut, my favorite is cream cheese and avocado.

Jon opening his gifts, the best was the beatles monopoly, that he didnt know existed! And I made a donation in honor of him to the michael j fox foundation.
For his birthday cake, he wanted a bluberry pie, also a first for me, and it was fabulous! Definately a keeper.

Iwill start with some great news, my lovey is going to come visit me! Marvin gave sam her chanukah gift early, and its to fly her to windsor! We just need to pick a date.

I worked Friday until 8, there was Diners Club, where 20 residents can pay to have a special meal, and we set up nicely with table cloths and so on. Was a lot of work, especially since it was my first time. But it went well.

Saturday I went out from 11:15 until 5, and it was pouring the entire time. I went to about ten different stores, in and out of the car with my umbrella and my pants soaking wet. I did manage to get a GPS, rolling pin, and some chanukah and christmas gifts.

Today I drove to the dollarama to check out the GPS, im very happy with it. I did some scrapbooking, Ill post the pages later. Jon and I went to the new Superstore (loblaws) that opened near by, and I loved it! Much better than the one that I have been going to, which is huge. This one is very similar to loblaws at home, so I felt at home! I got everything to make sushi for jons birthday on Thursday. I hope I can do it. I am also making him a blueberry pie.

Conference

Today was a very long day. I was chosen from work with 8 others to go to our head office in Sarnia for a conference. Who knew that Sarnia was 2 hours away from Windsor. not me!
I had to be at work at 7am, it was pitch black when I got there!

The memo I got said to dress causally and comfortable. So there I am dressed in my Lululemon outfit, only to walk into a room where everybody is in 'business causal'. ooops. my bad! I still think I looked better than the lady in the baby blue suit, black shoes, and gold belt. (Jon thought it might look like this)

I actually really enjoyed the day, there was a great motivational speaker, and I got to know some people that I work with. I also learned more about the company that I work for, and how much everyone loves it. Everyone there works in long term care or retirement homes, and they all love their jobs.

Still sick

I cant believe this, im still sick. I didnt even go to work yesterday. Im a bit better today, I tried not to get too close to the residents.
Tomorrow I must go to a conference of some sort for work, its for new employees. I thought it was near by, but it turns out it is in Sarnia, which is about 1.5 hours away. I have to meet at work at 7am to go on a van. No one will want to sit with me because I will be sniffling and sneezing on them!

So I thought it was great when everyone in Windsor told me that it doesnt snow until January. Imagine my surprise to see snow on my car this morning! It wasn't a lot, but it was still there!
At least it was a good topic of conversation with me at work today, I brought a bunch of the residents to look out the window.
Im just waiting for Jon to come home from school, I have dinner ready and then he needs to go back for a project meeting.

Well it seems as though I have a tickle in my throat. I woke up with it yesterday. Wednesday night at work I was calling Bingo without a microphone, so I think that might have made it worse. I have to work tomorrow, so I was off today, that was lovely. I tried to relax so I would not get more sick, I did that buy lying on the couch and watching 4 consecutive episodes of the OC.

Jon and I went out to dinner tonight, to a new place. (well new to us) its called the Mangolian Grill. You get to pick all your vegetables, meat, and sauce, and then they make you a stir fry. Just like our beloved Zyng restaurant in Montreal, but 3x the price. When we were leaving they gave us a 2 for 1 movie coupon, so that was quite nice. We shared this ginormous drink in a huge martini glass. It was green apple alcohol and 7up, quite good. The picture is from jons cell phone so its not too clear.

In 2 weeks, we are going to see Madonna in Detroit, really looking forward to it!

It turns out that I may get 4 consecutive days off at the holidays. That is what my boss said to me, but I wont get excited until I see it on my schedule. I kept telling my mom that I NEED to go to Florida, because there are things there that I cannot get anywhere else! Such as my nail polish at the flea market. How can I not buy it there? I ALWAYS buy it there. Well, it turns out that life goes on when you must buy nail polish at full price in the mall. So thats what I did yesterday, I went and bought the new color I wanted, for 9.85, instead of 6 US!

I do hope that I get to go to Florida though.

Today it is hot and sunny in Windsor. I was out in a t shirt. Just finished buying jons birthday presents, now I will have fun wrapping them.
I forget to mention, that while on the way back to windsor from the toronto airport, we got lost. This was after the flight was an hour and a half late, full of turbulence. And then, to make a long story short, in between london and windsor, there are no service stations open late, and all the small town were completly dark, so of course we ran out of gaz. Luckily we have the canadian tire auto club, and they came with gaz at 1am. We got home at 2.

I thought all our car trouble was over, until sunday while i was going to work, the battery light came on once again. I thought i was going to die. Brought it once again to canadian tire, and they informed me that there was a broken wire due to installing and removing the alternators.(the first problem). so they were nice and sent me yesterday to and from work by taxi. I hope to never go to canadian tire again. I told the lady there, becky, that she is my best friend in windsor.

Here is the cake from last nights class. It was hard, we learned the wilton rose, and I think it will take years of practice to get it. I have one class left next week. I dont think I will take level 2 yet because there is so much preparation! For every class you need a two level cake and 3 batches of icing! We also learned the shell border, thats the pink around the bottom.
I finished my first week at work, 5 days straight! Im starting to learn a lot of names of the residents, but theres so many! Yesterday we had scrapbooking on the schedule, and theres a volunteer to come in and do it. Well, it was a creative memories consultant, and I told her Im a scrapbooker, she said I will be so impressed! Well let me tell, i was not impressed! in the least!!!!
She cropped every picture into a circle. Used only white background paper, with a thin border sticker. Not my style at all!

Tomorrow I go home! yay!
Driving 4 hours to Toronto and then flying to Montreal.

This is the plane at the Windsor airport. The airport is the smallest airport I have ever seen. There is no separate place for arrivals or departures, and only one gate. One person at one desk, and one security line to take you to the one waiting area. The plane had 9 rows.

This is the first cake I made in my cake decorating class. its not perfect, you will see the creases in the white icing part, but im still happy with it. The rainbow was traced on wax paper in piping gel, and then transferred onto the cake, and then you use the piping gel as your outline. I put Jons name on to cheer him up! I bought 2 cool things, a trim n turn cake plate, it turns while you ice it to make it easier. And then I bought a cake dome, that makes it easy to carry the cake. Right now its sitting on the base. Next week we are learning the wilton rose.

What to say.
Nothing exciting going on at all. Nothing to look forward to, except my trip home on thursday. After that, its work every week with no end in sight. weird! Dont know how people do it.
I had two real days so far, saturday and sunday ill be shadowing someone, and then on my own.

jon is back at school, trying to get back into it. And I am cleaning the apartment. Fun Fun.

In good news, I read the most fabulous book! My friend erin gave it to me, The Sleeping Beauty Proposal, excellent! its one of those chick lit books that you read in 2 days :)

I flew home because of Jons grandfathers funeral, and since ive been home, I have 2 more! Could you imagine!
Sadly, a very good friend of my parents, who has been suffering for a long time, and then all of a sudden my cousins father.
Tomorrow is jons grandfathers funeral, and I hope he will start feeling better and getting back to normal.

Today I got the call that Jons grandfather has a cerebral hemorrhage and it is not good. So today was jons first day back at school after the 3 week strike, and when he walked in I had to tell him. It was not fun. They are very close just like me and my grandparents.
So we don't know what to do, if we should come first thing in the morning, or wait. Not to mention that I have my first day at my new job on Wednesday. Oh boy. This sucks, thats all there is to say.

By the way, jons grandpa, who he calls zeida, is really cool! Hes 87 and still wears jeans!

And to think, all day I was thinking I was going to come blog about having to bring the car in again today to Canadian tire!

I just signed up for a 4 week cake decorating class at Michaels. Im really excited, I always wanted to do it. And all the classes in october were 40% off, so its costing me 22$ for the 4 classes. I hope its fun.
And im going home in 3 weeks today!
